Course Description:

This 2-day training module introduces students to the fundamental concepts of drone mapping. Students will begin by learning to address the in-field portion of the photogrammetry workflow, covering mission planning, automated and manual data collection, and quality control standards. It also provides an overview of photogrammetry data processing and output file formats.

At the end of this module, students will be able to…

• Plan aerial mapping missions using a range of mapping techniques and flight planning tools
• Apply operational skills for nadir and oblique data capture workflows.
• Apply in-field and desktop quality control screening to validate raw image data.
• Use GNSS and ground control points to establish improved georeferencing for their mapping datasets.
• Understand the photogrammetry data processing workflow and various uses of photogrammetry deliverables like ortho mosaics and 3D models.
